I’m officially in my off season for running, which feels excellent. After having a long run most weekends since February, I’m excited to have a few months that are a little more free flowing when it comes to running. I have some fun 5ks that I’ve signed up for the next couple months, so that’ll add to some of the fun.
With that in mind, I headed out on Saturday for a 5k run. I’ve felt particularly stiff and tight all week, which made the start of the run difficult. By 1.75 miles I was feeling pretty over it- my body wasn’t flowing. Somewhere around mile 2.7, however, I felt that “click” happen, and everything fell into place. The flow hit and I immediately smiled. I neared home as I hit 3.1 miles, and decided that I was feeling so good that I didn’t want to stop! I ended up running 4.5 miles, the last two with a huge smile on my face!
It was 29 degrees when I headed out, but with the sun shining and no wind, it felt like a beautiful day to run. I really think that more people would like running if they hit higher mileage and had the chance to let their bodies really fall into a groove.
I got in from my run and felt overwhelmingly grateful as I stretched and did my planks. I feel thankful that I can run and have a great time doing something I love.
I’m keeping my fitness up right now because I’m running the Santa Hustle 5k in December (Disclaimer: I received a free bib to the race through my partnership as a BibRave Pro Ambassador). If you’re wanting to sign up for a fun Christmas race (5k or half marathon), I’d encourage you to check this race out! For $7 off the race, use code BIBRAVESH at check out!
I’m looking forward to a fun off season with a few months of running for fun!
